Vintage Continental-sized (approx. 4x6”) chrome postcard with three views from
Inishmore, the largest of the Aran Islands, off
the Galway coast of Ireland.
Front text reads, "INISHMORE, ARAN ISLANDS".
Back caption reads,
"INISHMORE, ARAN ISLANDS: The three Aran Islands, Inishmore,
Inishmaan and Inisheer, lie in the Atlantic across the mouth of Galway Bay.
Long celebrated in antiquarian and folklore circles, the islands have become
unique holiday centres. Their relative isolation, the traditional way of life, the
spoken Irish, the currach, the traditional costume including the world famous
Aran sweater and finger-braided crios, the prehistoric forts and remains
of early erimitical settlements, the sincere welcome from the friendly people --
all these are part of the Aran Islands tradition."
